Knit This Hat and You Will Feel Like A Fairy Princess

I kid you not.

I was a bit skeptical about the whole beret thing. I didn't want to look like a baker. I think it was a bit baker-ish (puffy and tall) before blocking, but blocking it over a dinner plate gave it the right amount of droop and opened up the lace beautifully.

As many people note on Ravelry, this hat is hard to put down! The pattern is written beautifully.
Pattern: Rose Red by Ysolda
Yarn: RYC Cashsoft from stash
Mods: none
Putting it on for the first time and still a little unsure about the beret look, I showed my daughters.
7 year old: "That hat is wicked cool. I want one."
4 year old: "Mommy pretty."
I'd give that pattern 10 stars!

It IS cute...especially on you! I'm not a hat person, but this one is a winner. (Looks great with that sweater, too!)

I knit a Gretel hat for Hannah and had similar results. She loved it but now it doesn't match this year's coat so I think she needs a new one. Maybe I'll knit this pattern instead.

i am so a beret person. it's the only kind of hat that consistantly looks good on me.
i actually have a rose red on the needles, but i've forgotten where i was in the pattern and will probably need to frog.

Berets seem to be the new thing this year! Love that one on you. I might have to try one...I never thought of myself as a beret person, but that hat sure is cute.

Emily, I've wondered about berets, too--whether it's a good look for me. Glad to see that your daughters love it, too. Just what until they hit their teens...enjoy the love & approval while you can! (My own dear daughter didn't have terrible twos, but terrible 13-14 time--but totally turned that around by the time she was 18.

This is so pretty! Yes, now I have to run off and queue it. You chose a wonderful colorway, too.

The Calico scarf and Advent Stockings all turned out so great! I love your Calico colorway - it's so lovely! All of the different coorways make it look more textured than it even is. Just beautiful! Thank you for sharing and inspiring us. :)

It looks great! I tagged you for a "Six Random Things" post on my blog. (Details are there.) If you don't have time for it, no worries. It isn't typically something I do, but I figured why not?!)
